This two week Scandinavian getaway offers sparkling lakes, spectacular fjords, and so much more of this very scenic northern area of Europe! 
ScandinaviaBeginning in Copenhagen, we’ll see Christiansborg Palace, the famous Little Mermaid, and Tivoli Gardens. Visit Hans Christian Andersen’s home at Odense and cross the Little Belt waterway to Jutland. In Arhus, visit Den Gamle By and at Frederikshavn, travel by ferry to Gothenburg.  Pass through Sweden’s heartland to Stockholm, then stops in Uppsala, Mora, and Lillehammer, home of the ’94 Winter Olympics.
Other highlights include views of Nærøydal Canyon; a picture stop at Tvindefoss Waterfall; visit Bergen-the quintessential Scandinavian town; and Vøringfoss, Noway’s most famous waterfall.  Enjoy a cruise across Sognefjord.  We end in Oslo- see Frogner Park and the highlights of this vibrant city.

Itinerary

Day 1, Sun.                                         Overnight Flight
                Join us to explore the beautiful cities, gorgeous country scenery and magnificent fjords of these northern countries! An unforgettable journey awaits you as you depart on your overnight flight to Europe's Scandinavian countries.

Day 2, Mon                                          Arrive in Copenhagen, Denmark
Time to rest or to start exploring Denmark’s capital. At 6 pm, meet your traveling companions for a welcome drink hosted by your Tour Director.

Day 3, Tue.                                           Copenhagen
Sightseeing with a local guide features the Church of Our Savior and the Stock Exchange on the way to Christiansborg Palace, where you visit the elegant ROYAL RECEPTION ROOMS. Drive past the National Museum and the Royal Theater, stop for pictures of Amalienborg Palace and at the LITTLE MERMAID statue. Tonight, visit TIVOLI GARDENS, the city’s colorful amusement park. (B)

Day 4, Wed.                                      Copenhagen--Arhurs
                Morning drive over one of the world’s largest suspension bridges constructed off-shore to the fairytale island of Funen. Visit HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN’S HOME at Odense, then, cross the Little Belt waterway to Jutland. Arrive in Arhus and visit DEN GAMLE BY, a fascinating collection of completely furnished old Danish town houses. Time to shop in the pedestrian area near the hotel. (B,D)

Day 5, Thur                                    Arhus–Gothenburg, Sweden
At Frederikshavn, board a FERRY for the three-hour crossing of the strategic Kattegat to Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city. See its landmarks during an orientation drive and enjoy time on your own. (B,D)

Day 6 Fri.                                Gothenburg–Stockholm
 Drive through the area often referred to as the breadbasket of the country, miles of fertile farmland strewn with tidy farms, followed by industrial towns like Huskvarna and Norköping, a major Baltic seaport. Afternoon arrival in Stockholm. (B)

Day 7 Sat.                                            Stockholm
Sightseeing with a local guide features the Royal Palace, Riddarholm Church, and the blue and gold chambers in the CITY HALL, where the annual Nobel Prize banquet is held. In the afternoon an optional excursion to the fascinating Wasa Ship Museum can be arranged. (B)

 Day 8 Sun.                                            Stockholm–Uppsala–Mora
This morning, visit Uppsala, the country's oldest university town. Admire the glorious stained glass windows in its huge gothic CATHEDRAL. Via the prehistoric burial mounds of Old Uppsala travel to Dalarna, home of the symbol of Sweden—the Dala Horse. Overnight in Mora by Lake Siljan, once home of the painter Anders Zorn and now host to the longest ski-race in the world, Vasaloppet. (B,D)

Day 9, Mon.                                         Mora–Lillehammer, Norway
A scenic day! Penetrate deeper into rustic Dalarna, then enter Norway. Pass strategic Elverum, rebuilt after total destruction during World War II. On via Lake Mjøsa to Lillehammer. Enjoy a guided visit of the fascinating MAIHAUGEN OPEN-AIR MUSEUM. (B,D)

Day 10, Tue.                                       Lillehammer–Flam
Majestic mountains, dark pine forests, sparkling lakes, and silvery trout streams all the way on your leisurely journey through Valdres and the Fillefjell area. Before arriving in Flam, stop for pictures at Borgund’s stave church, famous for its beautiful exterior. (B,D)

Day 11, Wed.                                        Flam-Bergen
Today a real treat: embark at Flam for a leisurely CRUISE on the spectacular Sognefjord. Land at Gudvangen and drive to Stalheim for a dazzling panoramic view over Nærøydal Canyon. On the way back down to sea level, take pictures of the Tvindefoss Waterfall. Early afternoon arrival in picturesque Bergen. On your orientation tour you will hear about its 11th-century origins and its association with the Hanseatic League. (B)
           
Day 12, Thur.                                      Bergen–Geilo
Bergen is the most characteristic of all Scandinavian towns. Visit the colorful fish market, stroll through the narrow lanes of ancient Bryggen, or ride the funicular up to Mount Fløyen. Drive along the beautiful Hardangerfjord, then, cross by FERRY before climbing up to Vøringfoss, Norway’s most celebrated and mightiest waterfall. Continue across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau to the ski resort of Geilo. (B,D)

Day 13, Fri.                                          Geilo–Torpo–Oslo
In Torpo, admire a STAVE CHURCH, symbol of Norwegian heritage. Continue along the scenic road between the Steinsfjord and the ice-blue Tyrifjord and arrive in Oslo. (B)

Day 14, Sat.                                          Oslo
Sightseeing with a local guide features the National Theater, Parliament, and the Royal Palace. Highlight visits: FROGNER PARK with Gustav Vigeland’s famous stark sculptures and the ornate CITY HALL. The afternoon is free, with a chance to join an optional excursion to the relics of a glorious seafaring past. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate the success of our vacation. (B,D)

Day 15, Sun.                                         Homeward Bound
Yes, it’s time to say good-by! Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B)

Travel Insurance   $119.00  +$30 Travel/Trip Cancellation insurance is highly recommended. Ask about Travel Protection Plus for an additional $30.  This additional benefit allows you to cancel your vacation up to 24 hours (or the prior business day, whichever is farther out) before your scheduled departure for any reason not covered by the travel protection plans provisions. With this Protection Plus policy you will be reimbursed for the cancellation penalties with travel vouchers to be used within a year with the tour operator. You must purchase with your deposit if you want a waiver for pre-existing conditions and Travel Protection Plus.  Insurance is not refundable.  Your air is not covered under this policy.   

Activity Level:  There’ll be lots of walking and on uneven surfaces; and possibly stairs to access areas.
Weather The weather should be as good as it gets in Scandinavia as we are traveling during their warmer summer months.  In saying that,  it can still be cool, especially early mornings and at night with the possibility of rain at any time. You can expect daytime high temperatures to be in the mid 60’s-70’s depending on how far south or north you are at any given time on the trip.
Passports: required for all U. S. /Canadian citizens. No visas required. Non-U.S. citizens check with your respective consulate.
Singles Travel Experience- This special trip offering offers an excellent way to travel with some other singles on a trip that may not generate a large enough number of singles for a solo singles group only but it gives you the opportunity to travel on a great trip to a great destination with some other singles and we can help you avoid the single supplement fee on these great trips.  You’ll be with other regular travelers (unless our singles sign up early and take all the seats!) to assure that we have a large enough group to travel to this great destination. So the tour may not be exclusively single but that’s no reason not to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to visit a wonderful destination as the group will have a professional, local tour director leading the trip. We’ll make sure our singles are able to correspond before the trip with the other singles signed up.
Price does not includeitems of a personal nature, meals not specified in itinerary, tips to drivers and guides, phone calls, airport transfers, alcoholic beverages, etc.
Final documents are sent approximately 10-12 days prior to the trip with lots of great information and also the names of fellow travelers, where to meet, hotel addresses and contact, etc.

Your payment for a reservation on this trip constitutes consent and acknowledgement of all the provisions in this Fine Print listed below and in the Singles Travel Company General Terms and Conditions.  Please make sure you read both of these important pieces of information and call us with any questions. Per our tour operator the hotels are subject to change.

Payments:     A non-refundable deposit of $250.00 is due with your reservation and your insurance is due also if you want to purchase it- (see above note on travel insurance).  

Final payments:  Due 70 days prior to departure date.  Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express) and /or checks (payable to Travel Advisors) are accepted.

Cancellation Fees and Refunds:
     All cancellations must be in writing.  Regardless of when you cancel there will be a charge from Singles Travel Company of $50.  Also insurance is non-refundable.
Cancellation Fees as follows:
Cancellation 71 days or more prior to commencement of services   Loss of deposit/ insurance/ $50 service fee
70-15 days prior to commencement of services                                  50% of total price/ insurance/ $50 service fee
Within 14 days of departure                                                                100% of total price/ insurance/ $50 service fee
No refunds on unused portions of the tour.  A fee of $30 per transaction may be charged for any alteration or revision made to a reservation.  Note that if you have a roommate and he/she cancels after final payment due date, we will do everything to find a new match. However, if no match is found, the difference in cost for a single room is the responsibility of the guest who cancels. No refund will be given to the guest who cancels, regardless of the tour company policy as stated above. We are not responsible for costs related to cancellations after our cut off date.  Cancellation fees also apply to additional accommodations reserved prior to and after the tour booked with the tour operator of the trip.   After airline tickets are issued, airline cancellations are per the airline’s policy/ and or the tour operator if purchased through the tour operator. Per our tour operator, hotels are always subject to change.
